We have some very exciting news to share with you today!
Sporting Kansas City, the Major League Soccer team in Kansas City, has just announced that it has selected the Kaw Valley Soccer Association to become one of the Founding Members of the Sporting Club Network. In addition, KVSA has been chosen to become an exclusive Affiliate of the Sporting Juniors Program, which is tasked with assisting SKC in finding and developing local, MLS quality players. This is a tremendous honor for KVSA and only a handful of clubs in the entire region have been identified, approached, and offered the opportunity to become a SKC Juniors Affiliate.
How did this opportunity present itself?
A couple of months ago, KVSA was approached by SKC about the possibility of becoming a Founding Member of the Sporting Club Network and a potential affiliate for the SKC Junior programs. SKC informed us that they were looking for innovative and forward thinking soccer clubs in the region to assist them in accomplishing the SKC mission: 1) increase the number of soccer participants, and fans, in the Midwest, and 2) develop local “home-grown” MLS quality players.
After extensive research, review, and discussion, the KVSA Board of Directors, organizational administrators, and premier coaching staff, unanimously agreed that this partnership was consistent with KVSA's mission “to build better people through the sport of soccer“ and that it would greatly benefit the members of our organization.
How does this partnership benefit the members of KVSA?
Members of KVSA will receive a variety of benefits from this partnership. Some of these benefits include:
- Cutting Edge Coaching- Our coaching directors and staff will work collaboratively with the coaching staff at SKC and be educated and trained in the coaching philosophies and strategies endorsed by US Soccer Federation, MLS and Sporting KC. These philosophies will then be integrated into every level of soccer offered at KVSA.
- Exclusive Clinics and Camps- Our players will have the opportunity to participant in exclusive camps and clinics hosted by the SKC coaching and training staff. In addition to player development, examples of these clinics may include such things as speed and agility training, nutrition and fitness and a college prep course.
- Access and Interaction with SKC Players- Our members will have unique access to SKC practices and exclusive opportunities to interact with SKC players throughout the season.
- Membership- All KVSA members will receive a Sporting Club membership profile where they will have access to discounted SKC tickets, exclusive partner offers and presale opportunities for other events at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park.
